Its mama was a portable;
its daddy, a G1000®.
The family resemblance is unmistakable. And so is the capability. For
pilots of light sport (LSA) and experimental/kitbuilt aircraft, Garmin’s
affordable new G3X™ system is clearly the start of a “glass flight deck”
dynasty. Similar in appearance to the GPSMAP® 696/695 series portables,
the non-TSO’d panel-mount G3X combines a G1000-like system interface
with full primary flight display (PFD) attitude/directional guidance,
electronic engine gauges, built-in GPS, digital ADAHRS, and detailed
moving-map multifunction display (MFD) capabilities. You can choose
a single- or multi-screen layout. And Garmin Safe Taxi® diagrams, as well
as initial FliteCharts®, come preloaded as standard1. Plus, you can opt
for NEXRAD imaging and other XM WX™ satellite weather tools as well2.
