★ TECHNICAL COUNSELOR: Benny Davis
Canada | RV- 7 First flight was mid-May 2008 at Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Plane flies absolutely great and is a pure joy to fling around the sky. It’s powered by a Lycoming IO-360 with 9-to- 25 pistons, Hartzell blended-airfoil prop, and other goodies from Reliable Horsepower in Breslau, Ontario. Dynon EFIS D- 100 and EMS D- 120, Icom radio, Garmin GTX 327 transponder, and 496 GPS guide me around south- western Ontario. It meets or exceeds all of Van’s published perfor- mance figures. North Carolina | Pitts S-2E
I purchased an S-2E kit a number of years ago. It had gone through
several hands with very little construction done. It remained in storage until I retired. Finally, on February 7, 2009, it flew for the first
time. Construction time exceeded 1,500 hours. It has a Doug Dodge
pressure cowling, wider fuselage, tall landing gear, and symmetrical
ailerons. A Lycoming IO-360 provides power with 10-to- 1 pistons
turning a Hartzell constant-speed aerobatic prop. This is my second
Pitts; my first was an S-1S. Thanks to Curtis for a great design and for
making it possible for people like me to have so much fun.
