43VV first flew on September 29, 2008. The aircraft is powered by a
Lycoming IO-360 with a Hartzell constant-speed prop. The all-glass
panel has a Dynon 180, Dynon HS34, and a Garmin SL30 with the
Garmin GTX 327 transponder. The plane is painted in the colors of
World War II ace James (Sully) Varnell and is named My Mustang.
It took a while for this senior citizen to get used to the new panel,
but now I am very comfortable with the glass, and the plane is
a delight to fly. A special thanks to Jerry Lynch, Ernie Pritchard,
Gaylord Clark, and Rory Hanson. Without their help this project
would never have happened.

Illinois | Fokker
Our Fokker E.I, modeled after Max Immelmann’s World War I
fighter 3/15, took flight on September 27, 2008. This airplane was
built by a group of junior and senior high school students under
the direction of high school teacher Chris O’Reilly and me. We
started the project in the summer of 2007 and worked on it one
evening a week and some weekends. We couldn’t have finished this
project without the assistance of many donors, especially Stewart’s
Aircraft Finishing Systems and the DuPage Township. Thanks also
