Jon Watson Engvall
(1/9/1938–10/6/2009)
Jon passed away at the UCSD Medical Center in San
Diego while waiting for a lung transplant. He served
in the U.S. Air Force and was a graduate of the
University of Massachusetts. An electrical engineer,
he spent most of his
career in technical
sales and retired to
Tucson, Arizona, in
2006. He was born
in Manchester, New
Hampshire, but spent
most of his adult life
in Massachusetts.
Jon will be greatly
missed by his wife,
Charlotte Turner
Engvall, a daughter,
Kirsten Turner, and
six siblings—Judy
Hunter, Carol Davies, twin Josephine Harmon,
Andy Gordon, Donald Engvall, and David Engvall—
nieces, and nephews.
As a pilot and aircraft builder, Jon was an
active member of EAA Chapters 106 and 196 in
Massachusetts.
Friends and family are invited to post obituaries
and sign a memorial guestbook online for Jon and
other EAAers who have “gone west” at www.EAA.
org/obituaries. The names and stories of each person
enshrined on EAA’s Memorial Wall in Oshkosh,
Wisconsin, are also available here.
