EAA’s Memorial Wall is dedicated to those special individuals whose spirit, dedication, and
passion for aviation positively impacted the lives of those around them.
Located at the foot of Compass Hill and adjacent to Fergus
Chapel, EAA’s Memorial Wall honors EAA members and
aviation enthusiasts who have gone west. Bronze plaques
with honoree names are installed annually on each side of
the Wall. Each honoree has their biographical information
and photo placed in the annual Memorial Wall registry
album located in the Fergus Chapel.
EAA holds an annual dedication service on the last Sunday
of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. This service is followed by
the reading of the names and a breathtaking missing man formation flight overhead.
A contribution of $350 is required and includes a two line plaque inscription, admission to
the AirVenture ceremony, and a keepsake DVD of the event. Honorees submitted by
April 12th will be included in the annual dedication. The Memorial Wall albums from
all past years are now available online.

IN MARCH OF LAST year, Tom Poberezny
announced that for the first time in its history,
EAA would be conducting a search for a new president, a role from which he would step down to
assume the chairmanship once a new president
was named. Since that time the search for a new
EAA president has been ongoing, and EAA’s Dick
Knapinski recently sat down with Poberezny to
discuss the status of that search.
“We’ve had two presidents in the organization, my father, Paul, and myself,” Poberezny said.
“This is the first time we’ve had to do a search for
president in 50-plus years, so there’s no template.
Our dedication is to do it right, find the right person who fits the culture and the expectation of the
membership, and can continue to raise the bar of
performance and member value.” Poberezny discussed where that search stands, how it’s being
conducted, and why the qualities that make EAA
special must be a part of the organization’s next

Sixth U.S. Sport Aviation Expo this month
THE U.S. SPORT AVIATION Expo, the world’s first
aviation trade show dedicated solely to sport
pilot/light-sport aircraft, makes its sixth run at
the Sebring Regional Airport, Florida, January
21-24. EAA continues its role as forums coordinator with a full schedule of informative sessions,
plus several representatives of EAA publications
will be there to cover the event.
Sebring Chairman Bob Wood reports that a
number of new exhibitors are scheduled to participate, including Van’s Aircraft, maker of the RV- 12
experimental light-sport aircraft kit, along with
returning exhibitors featuring new and well-known models.
