YOU’VE SEEN THEM AT AIR SHOWS, admired calendars they grace, and read about these
noteworthy airplanes in aviation history books and pilot reports. So why not fly one
yourself—solo! The 10 aircraft profiled here can all be rented to fly on one’s own at
these selected flight-training facilities. Stretching from California to Italy’s Lake Como,
many of the locations and airports are interesting destinations in their own right, and
o;er a variety of rental aircraft as well as points of interest and things to do on the
ground. So get some stick time in a legendary aircraft and enjoy one of those once-in-
