The COSPAS-SARSAT satellites stopped
monitoring 121. 5 MHz emergency locator
transmitters (ELTs) a year ago. Yet there’s no
requirement in the United States to install
new 406 MHz ELTs that, when activated,
send your GPS position via satellite, greatly
reducing search and rescue times.
