Cub-A-Licious!

COMPARING THE CARBON CUB SS AND SPORT CUB S2
THE CUB IS A LEGACY-TYPE AIRCRAFT DESIGN, much like the Douglas DC- 3 and the North American P- 51. They’re all egendary for a good reason. Non-aviation people often equate Piper Cubs with general aviation. While Piper Aircraft stopped manufacturing Cubs in 1983, lots of other iterations of Cubs have continued, but the only FAR Part 23-certified
manufacturer of Cubs today is CubCrafters of Yakima, Washington, with its Top
Cub. And now it has entered the light-sport aircraft market, offering two
models—the Sport Cub S2 and the Carbon Cub SS. On a pleasant day last fall,
I had the opportunity to fly both of their LSA models. Some days, life just
doesn’t get any better! ▶
