Commercial, instrument, and multi-engine pilot with seaplane rating
Sport Aviation Reader
Meet Keith Kocourek.
Twenty-five years ago, Keith took a float plane ride in Alaska while
on vacation. “The pilot put me in right seat, let me fly, and I was hooked
from then on.” Keith started lessons the next month and got his
private pilot certificate a year later.
Keith has been an EAA member for 24 years, and loves being a part of
EAA because it’s a very tight-knit group of people that share a similar passion.
He’s also shared that passion with his family.
Keith’s daughter Paige, 13, started attending AirVenture when she was five.
“She is totally into it!” Paige has 15 hours, and wants to solo a glider on her 14th
birthday. “Hopefully” she’ll get her glider license before her driver’s license!”
Keith is an active volunteer and supporter of EAA programs, including a
major supporter of the annual Young Eagles Raffle. “I do a lot of volunteer
work with the Young Eagles. I’m also very involved in helping out with the
Gathering of Eagles, and, the more I see, the more I like it.”
Why Keith reads Sport Aviation….
“I really like the way the new magazine was done. Sport Aviation has articles
and information that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. For example,
the article on skywriting—after I read it, I bought a smoke system
for my Stearman. It’s harder than it looks! I look at the advertisements
as well, and I’ve bought a number of things that have been advertised or
recommended in Sport Aviation.”
On average,
of EAA Sport Aviation readers
are looking to make 3 or more
aviation purchases other than fuel
in the next 18 months.
