A close examination revealed things I didn’t like: The seat was suspended from the airframe with cotton clothesline, in a kind of cat’s cradle of amateurish knots. The engine had just one huge cylinder. The lone spark plug got its juice from a big 6-volt lantern battery. I am not an expert on engines, but I thought to ask the shop owner what would happen when the battery ran down. He said the engine
