Satellite radar has made flying safer
for all pilots–from the recreational

in a business jet. By showing the
location and intensity of storms on a
scalable image, from a local area to the
entire continental United States, pilots
can now see the big weather picture.
No matter where you view Nexrad–
whether checking weather at home, at
an FBO, on a smartphone, i Pad, or in
the cockpit–the key is knowing what
the different colored images mean.
Below, the magenta, red and orange areas indicate
a line of strong thunderstorms.
