HANDS ON
HINTS FOR HOMEBUILDERS
CLEAN
THREADS
THESE ARE THREAD CLEANERS that I’ve
made to clean debris out of blind holes
and nuts. Simply take a bolt of the size
and pitch of the hole you want to clean
and grind reliefs in at least two sides,
then wire brush any burrs from
between the threads. What’s so good
about these is they’re not sharp
enough to remove any metal. I use
them mostly for removing old Loctite
or sealing compound.
The two bolts on the left I ground on a bench grinder,
the spark plug and the two on the right with a 4-1/2-
inch right angle grinder.
