engine manufacturer Thielert acquired it and a year
later went bankrupt. Superior was then acquired by
the Chinese Qingdao Brantly Investment Group,
which created Superior Aviation Beijing. “Superior is
now manufacturing parts in the U.S., and the first
batch of XP-Series engines is being shipped to China
for training of the local staff,” Tim said. Superior will
manufacture parts and engines in the United States
that will be sold in the Americas. The future Beijing
production is intended only for the Chinese market. A
new plant was built in China for that purpose.
Superior is lowering prices to its U.S. customers to
the 2010 level because the production rate is picking
up and its suppliers are giving bigger discounts.
