ABOVE: Steve Betzler’s hangar, home to a 1943 Fairchild PT- 26 Cornell,
a 1944 Fairchild 24, and pieces of a 1940 DH.82a Mk II de Havilland
Tiger Moth. MIDDLE: On the wall hangs a horizontal stabilizer painted
in the scheme used on the top surfaces of the stabilizer and wing of
five aircraft used by the RAF Central Flying School’s formation display
team. It allowed spectators to readily identify
aircraft that were inverted. (The aircraft had
inverted fuel systems not found on a standard
Tiger Moth.) BOT TOM LEFT: Steve holds a P8
compass he has awaiting installation on the
completed Tiger Moth. BOT TOM RIGHT: A backup
airspeed indicator that mounts on the left
interplane strut of the Tiger Moth.
