Oddball Pilots
The age of adventure isn’t dead. You just have to go looking for it.
IT’S EASY TO LOOK back on times past and convince yourself
that all the really good adventures—and all the really good,
adventurous flying jobs—took place before you were born.
Or, at least, before the advent of GPS. After all, who gets to
fly PBYs or Pan Am Clippers into South Pacific lagoons
these days? Or fly the mail to North Africa
in old biplanes, navigating by wind, sand,
and stars like Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
once did? Or get laurels for being the first
to fly anywhere, anymore?
